Welcome to Introduction to Teaching Online, a new online mini-course for Yukon College instructors preparing to teach an online or blended course.
The goal of this week-long course is for instructors to experience online learning from a student's perspective while engaging with ideas that will help you as you prepare to teach online. Over the five days learning together, we will:
- Explore the opportunities and challenges of online learning as they relate to the diverse needs of Yukon College students
- ​Discuss strategies for engaging students in an online community
- Explore how learning activities and assessments can translate into the online environment
- Connect to other instructors and supports for online learning at Yukon College
- Experience online learning tools and strategies from the student perspective​
The course will run from Monday, August 26 to Friday, August 30 with an anticipated total time commitment of 6-10 hours, including two hour-long synchronous (video-conferencing) sessions.
